BEEF
Our herd is raised on pasture for majority of their lives. They are either out foraging through their pastures or are being fed hay that was grown, cut, and processed on our farm. They also have access to mineral 24/7 to ensure their bodies are receiving the nutrients they need to flourish. Our herd is grained a few times throughout the year. Occasional as a treat to ensure we are able to catch them (come when called) and that they have good interactions with us (keep us the good guys). And also during the late stages of pregnancy, help with calf growth, and during lactation to assist with milk production. Grains and supplements are all purchased from Nerstrand AG, nearby feed mill; this ensures we are using resources near us and promoting other local businesses. Our calves are provided grain/protein starting around four months of age until they are finished out; this is along with being out on pasture and still with their Mamas. Calves are weaned around 6-7 months of age and are then finished out until they hit their peak weight. We then transport ourselves to the meat processors.
